Process Reflection

New English110 class,

Do not be discouraged when you learn that this class is about science fiction! That is if you are as shocked as I was when I started this class, I hated scifi. It is actually not as bad as you would imagine! The best advice I can give you would be, to read, read and read some more, and when you feel like you have read enough- you probably still have a few pages left to read.- LOL I know at the beginning I thought I would just skim through all the common place university chapters and get the gist of it, rather than reading through everything. Bad idea!!! I ended up going back and reading everything anyways because I was so lost when the class was talking about the different steps common place asks you to take. I guess Leslie didn't give us homework just because she thought we needed something to do once we got home, no.... we really did need to know it all. I thought this class was going to be a breeze! But, it really was academically challenging, and not to the point where I was exhausted, but definitely a good challenge.
So I if you only remember one thing from this post, then you probably didnt read the whole thing, so go back and read it all- remember I said to read, read and read some more...... Thats english 110, good luck!

Farscape

I really liked the beginning of the show! When the older man was telling his son that he was proud of him and that he would make his own story in life, then he gave him his lucky ring.... How sentimental right?!!! Then when he got morphed into that crazy magnetic field that pulled him far into space, was alittle wild, but still cool! And then..... the weird aliens had to be brought into the storyline, there were humans to, atleast people that looked human- i dont think they were from earth though.-

I really like the scifi shows that dont go sooo beyond reality, like crazy alien life forms with hair that moves all by itself and looks like rubber. I mean alittle bit of unrealistic stuff is interesting, like STNG how they have real people whether they are red, orange or green, maybe even look like cyclopes or droids, but they are still in human form. Not unknown alien creatures that look somewhat childish, to me. The biggest difference I noticed was between this show and all the rest is how they started from earth and as you could imagine made it seem more real. Especially how the guy was working for NASA. No other science fiction that I have seen has incorporated this into the plot.

STNG: “The Measure of a Man”

I really liked this episode! It shows how close Captain Picard and Data are, and how they view each others friendship. Also how Commander Riker feels as if he has betrayed both Captain Picard and Data by representing the prosecution, that is until Data explains to Riker how he is grateful for Riker's actions because without him he would have lost the judgment by default.

STNG was easier to relate to because not only did it incorperate a female in charge (the judge), but also how they were all laid back and just having fun while playing cards. Although I'm not sure how much I liked how everything took place on the ship, rather than exploring another planet. How many episodes can you possibly watch when all the action is confined to the inside of a spaceship?
