I really like this song, my husband likes to sing the end of it to my daughter Reese. When he says:
And if you ask me too, Daddy's gonna buy you a mockingbird I'mma give you the world I'mma buy a diamond ring for you I'mma sing for you I'll do anything for you to see you smile... And if that mockingbird don't sing and that ring don't shine, I'mma break that birdies neck I'll go back to the jeweler who sold it to ya And make him eat every carat don't f*** with dad (haha)
And although the other words to this song really don't have any significance to my personal life, I still get alittle tear eyed when I hear him sing parts in it like: Cause all I ever wanted to do was just make you proud. I never could have imagined that "such a small person" (my daughter) could influence my life so much! I mean to a certain degree you can imagine, but not really to the full extent until you have a child of your own.. Ever since she was born, I only want to make myself better, for her and my family; to make them proud of me and for Reese to know that IF mommy could do it (anything) then so can I.

@!!!!!I am crazy about this song!!! The lyric is really moving. Eminem shows his responsibility to his children in this song. It touched my heart!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think people know how sensitive Eminem can be, but when he sings instead of raps, I thinmk that's when he's at his softest and most personal.
ReplyDeleteAw I think that it is so sweet that your husband sings to your daughter! This song has a very loving and protective message.
ReplyDeleteGood song. It brings out the sensitive side of Eminem. This song shows the significance of family. Family is so important and you can always depend on them. I feel that Eminem is expressing his love for his daughter here and it is touching.
ReplyDeleteHis daughter really is the biggest impact on his life and career. His style changed completely after his daughter was born.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty awesome how your husband sings that to your daughter.
I'm a little embarrassed to say that I do have all the lyrics of this song. But it's an amazing song with an amazing message. I
ReplyDeletecan't wait to have kids of my own so I can rap to them in their crib.
I love this song; it's definitely one of my favorites of his. And I love the way that music sort of connects us all. The same song can mean completely different things; it just depends on who's listening..I love that about music.
ReplyDeleteI remember when this song came out, it is very intense. There are a lot of strong emotions in it, so I can see how it could bring a tear to someones eye.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very touching blog, certainly. Behind even Eminem's tough guy facade (I think I used that word facade correctly) there is a loving parent. I like how he still does his thing and gets a little explicit with the lyrics while being a softy at the same time. He is really a different kind of artist.
