Freewriting #2

I have been writing about how insecure Buffy seems to be with herself, specifically in season 3 episode 12. As Buffy turns 18 it seems hard for her to let go of her adolescence years where she has become so confident, and rightfully so. In the book titled The truth of Buffy I quote "Understanding and controlling those emotions helps lead the self to become a more fully realized human being". I believe this is important because it is saying once she is able to understand this new chapter in her life, then she will be able to explore more deeply all the emotions and feel more complete and secure as an adult. So the psychological conflict of the show is based on the constant struggle of characters who examine and reexamine and then discover their inner emotional problems-

  1. I think this is a really interesting topic. It's so true, not only for Buffy, but for people in the 'real world'. This new time in our lives is full of insecurity, because people judge us on so many levels- academically, physically, etc. I think it will be interesting to learn about how the Buffy world portrays it.

  2. You seem to be very knowledgeable about your topic. I especially liked how you related the quote to how it is relevant in Buffy's situations. You seem well on your way to a great paper!

  3. Indeed, Buffy has come a long way in her life. She had to make some tough decisions and also letting go of some things that were really meaningful to her. Sacrifice was definitely what she had to do and, luckily, Buffy made it through.
